It’s not hard to pinpoint the origins behind “Horizon”. Neoclassic Melodic Metal! Mike Dimareli is a young guitar virtuoso that has already delivered his credentials with his debut instrumental album by Greek based label Secret Port Records. Soon after this release the team surrounding this talented musician performed several times lives. “Upon the stage I realized that I was more intrigued while performing more complete songs and not only instrumental themes” Mike says.

It was more than obvious that the next album would feature a full line up. Again some really known players from the Greek scene took part in the recordings. Bob Katsionis on Keyboards (Firewind), Bill Aksiotis on vocals (Phantom Lord), Thomas Tserkezo (bass) and Tuomo Dimareli completed the line up.

Another thing has changed though in Mike’s persona: “During our live shows I realize that I wanted to deliver more direct music to the people. Yes I can play fast and complicated but that’s not the point for me”. The outcome was an album destined to be performed live. “The new songs are composed so they can be delivered 100% complete on stage without any samples and backups. Each note in the new album can be recreated live”.

Once the first tune kicks in the listener can understand what Mike’s saying. “Horizon” is a warm album that though keeps a virtuoso attitude towards the six string goddess it’s also a head-banging piece of work. “I like it! It sounds simple from a composer’s point of view but so mature and well performed. I am really proud of everyone’s performance in this work” and who can’t agree?
