Whispering Gallery is a melodic metal band from the Netherlands. With two clean male vocals and an impressive grunter they combine melody and agression with pure doom-metal art. Their demo "Gallery of Dreams"(1997) was recorded at Harrow Studios (NL).
In June of 1998 they recorded their MCD "Poems of a Forgotten Dream". It became an album with more diversity in the songs. In April of 1999 it was released by Killerwhale Records. In August of that same year "Like a dream of Never-ending Beauty, Love Never Dies..." was recorded. This spheric full-length album was released in April 2000 also by Killerwhale Records. Both albums were recorded at Harrow Studios.
The band build a good reputation as a live band and played together with bands like Ancient, Trail of Tears, Autumn, Detonation and at the end of 1999 Whispering Gallery had the pleasure of being special guests at the entire tour with Within Temptation. At that time they wrote an entire new album under the title "Lost as One". In 2001 they recorded the album at Harrow Studios. The songs became more accessible but remained heavy doom as always. In December 2002 the cd was finally released in own control by Whispering Gallery. Funeral Harvest Records released the cd in the USA. The reactions on all albums but especially this one were very good. International critics, magazines and e-zines were very excited about the quality of "Lost as One".
After the release of "Lost as One", Whispering Gallery played with bands like After Forever, Epica, Officium Triste, Her Enchantment, While Heaven Wept and they ruled the Dutch doom day in 2003.
In October 2003 they decided to do it something different and recorded 4 tracks at the highly respectable Excess Studios in Rotterdam (NL). In the mean time they played live shows and wrote new songs. Finally in April 2005, they finished the recordings at the Excess Studios. So the band has a complete new full-length album in their arms with a better sound, much heavier but as always pure Whispering Gallery style. During this summer, Richard from Her Enchantment introduced Whispering Gallery to Burning Star Records. It was the beginning of a new era for Whispering Gallery. Burning Star signed Whispering Gallery for the release of "Shades of Sorrow" and the option for one more. With this new goal and opportunities together with Burning Star, they are heading for a great and exciting time.
