In October 1999 Oliver, Kore and Jay founded the Copenhagen based band Zenith. By November 1999 the first line-up was a reality, the members were: Jay, Kore, Oliver, Seb and Hjalte. The band set out to play a new kind of metal combining different styles in the metal genre. The song writing and arrangement are focused on giving the most powerful expression. When mixing power, melodic and brutal metal, every piece in a song becomes unique and contributes to making every song multi-layered. The lyrics are written with the purpose to reflect on the complexity of modern society today.

The story so far

In December 1999 the band recorded their first promotional CD called 'Those Left Behind'. After the studio session the band parted ways with Hjalte and carried on for a while without any bass player. The band hired a new bass player called Benny in January 2000. Shortly after Zenith started recording their second promotional CD and managed to record 4 songs, but due to complications during the recording session the rest was postponed. During the summer of 2000 Zenith finished recording and played live for the first time on June 23rd in Ungdomhuset. The gig was a success and the band carried on to play more live concerts during the fall 2000. During the fall of 2000 the band found itself without a bass player once again and had help from Boas so they could play their gig at Stengade 30. Shortly after the band was joined by bass player Peter. The release of the second promotional CD, which was called 'Nadir' was delayed several times but was finally released in the summer of 2001.

Zenith played their first festival gig at Nakke festival in 2002, which was a big success and the band was already booked for next year's festival. Also in 2002 Zenith appeared on the compilation CD ‘First Blood of Denmark’ released through Alphalotha Music. The song on the CD was ‘Zenitology’. The last gig of 2002 was a successful x-mas metal show at Forbrændingen. In February 2003 Zenith started to record their 3rd promotional CD, which was recorded at Hansen Studios. In April 2003, Zenith got to the semi final in the international music competition Emergenza. Zenith released their 3rd promotion CD entitled 'Evilution' in May 2003 and received fantastic reviews.
Shortly after the release of the CD Zenith appeared on another compilation CD, this time released by the English magazine ‘Powerplay Magazine’. The song on the CD was ‘Give Me ‘till Tomorrow’.

In the summer of 2003 the band played another successful concert at Nakke festival. Shortly after Peter left the band and Carlos joined as the new bass player. During the beginning of 2004 Zenith played gigs across Denmark while writing new material for upcoming CD recording. In the fall of 2004 Zenith started recording the first 4 songs for its upcoming CD. The recording was once again in the hands of Jacob Hansen. Zenith spent 4 days recording the first 4 songs for the album. In December the same year Zenith completed the final recording session at Hansen studios. Mixing of the CD started in February 2005 and during a 2-day session the work was done. Or so it seemed. Following this final mixing some complications occurred and the song ‘What Da Ya Want’ had to be left out of the album because of some digital noise that could not be removed.

In May Zenith played at a 4-day music festival, which took place on a ship in the Copenhagen Harbour . The festival was entitled ‘Metal Motorship festival’ and had bands from a great deal of Europe . Zenith performed on the main stage. Get ready to be overwhelmed by the first full length CD from Zenith. The CD is called 'Evilution - the album'.
