At just six years old, Louange Ora Izere, originally from the Southern Province, is already recording an artist singer.

Her mother, Aliane Yankurije who is also a singer in her church choir, recounted New times that she discovered her daughter’s talent through her teachers.

“Her teacher used to tell us how amazing Ora was and we thought it was a joke, but she was still quick to memorize our church song. We once attended a wedding and performed “Mama Shenge” by the Christus Regnant Choir with Yverry and Andy Bumuntu. We were all surprised, ”she said.

The mother added that, a reporter who attended the wedding and invited her for a radio talk show on Salus Radio. The experience was the start of Ora’s musical journey.

The singer decided to take her talent to the next level during lockdown last year with her mother as manager. His first song was ‘Yezu Wanjye’ which is a combination of most of his ideas and his parents as well as some other friends.

After good feedback from people, Praise made another song called ‘Ni Wowe Mana’ and another remembrance song that really surprised her parents.

“Praise told me that she wanted to do a song about the commemoration of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi and I was so surprised. So I asked her if she knew about it and she said that she always listened to it on radio and television, which prompted her to send a message, ”Yankurije said.

“We gave her the green light and as she is a very big fan of Aline Gahongayire, she used her post from a song in which Aline performed with other artists and did the cover of ‘Hora Rwanda’ and in the song, ”she added.

Support your career

Yankurije shared a testimony where an old man from their church approached them and promised to support the singing talent of Praise and decided to write songs for her.

The very first song he wrote for her was his recent release with the video “Mama Papa” which explains how children should obey their parents. The song was enjoyed mostly by children and was even featured on Itetero TV Show, the children’s show aired on RTV.

Praise Message Ora Izere

“I am an artist and I will be a special person because I dream of becoming a special doctor who will help people with intellectual disabilities. I still feel pity every time I see a person in pain and want to play a part to end it. “

“The best thing that has happened to me is to have the parents who support me the most in my studies and my career, the second is that my song ‘Maman Papa’ is presented on the TV show Itetero and the third is that I met my favorite artist, Aline Gahongayire. and we shared and played a lot.

She also expressed her wishes.

“The first concerns education because I cannot be the doctor that I dream of being without studies. If I could have a good school to study and be fully covered by the tuition fee, I might appreciate it. The second thing is to meet President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame. I want to sing for them and thank them for all the opportunities they give us. The third is to get on a plane because I see them on TV and I admire them.

Message to parents

Aliane Yankurije encouraged parents to support their children’s talents as her husband physically and financially supported Louange in her education and music recording sessions during the holidays.

“Parents need to be friends with and support their child because it is very encouraging to get parental guidance and support as well,” she said.

Born into a family of three, Izere is the only daughter and the last born of Aliane Yankurije and Jean Baptiste Mbarushimana, she is a primary school student at Kibondo primary school in Huye district.
