New Zealand charity Bread foundation opened a 24/7 music studio in West Auckland aimed at helping underprivileged children who would not normally be able to access such an opportunity.

“What we have developed is really something quite special,” said association founder and rapper Mustafa Sheikh (otherwise known as Lil Mussie). Stuff.co.nz.

“We provide a private and closed space for children where they can devote their time to something productive. “

While the recording studio is obviously aimed at budding musicians, Sheikh believes that the skills learned in the recording studio are similar to those needed in the business world.

“The fundamentals of these roles are exactly the same as starting a new business. You create a brand, which involves aspects like a logo and a story, before you create a product – which in this case is a song or an instrument. Then they have to market that product to people.

“We teach children life skills with music as a medium. “

Sheikh posted some photos of the studio on his Instagram account and captioned the post, “ built a recording studio for disadvantaged young people to use free of charge 24/7. We are not paid to do these kinds of things. We are doing it to take care of the next generation. #nz #music ”

The studio has been moved to an existing accommodation in Te Atatū, in West Auckland. Bread Studio worked with William Brown, who runs youth hostels in New Zealand, to secure the space.

“I’m super excited with what they’ve put in place and the value it brings to the kids we deal with,” Brown said.

“It’s so important, especially for mental well-being, because it creates a special space for these children to detach themselves from the rest of the world. Making music allows them to express their life experiences, which is an important therapeutic activity.

When Sheikh is not busy being a philanthropist, he also raps under the name Lil Mussie and has been very successful in his career. The rapper has worked alongside Kid Cudi collaborator Charles Worth and famous producer Anthony Kilhoffer (Kanye West, Rick Ross).

Sheikh even hooked up with Kanye West via FaceTime and Ye revealed during the chat that he was is considering moving to New Zealand.

Sheikh plans to use his high profile connections to help build the profile of his new charity music studio.

“It opens the door for me to ask my famous friends or successful people in the music industry that I know around the world to teach these kids,” he said.

“I have a few Zoom lessons put on by amazing people all over the world, just to teach kids how to make a beat or how to rap to a beat.”
